WASHINGTON, D.C., January 23, 2024 – YWCA USA is proud to announce the election of our very own Chief Impact Officer, Dr. Dionne Blue, as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of The National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE). As Vice Chair, Dr. Blue will play a vital role in onboarding new members of the Board and collaborate closely with the president/CEO and Board Chair to set strategy and track progress of the organization. NEFE is a leading thought partner and champion in the field of financial education, advancing high-impact scholarly research and facilitating collaboration with practitioners, advocates, and policymakers. Dr. Blue has served on the NEFE Board of Trustees since 2020, having served as chair of both the grants committee and the governance committee.
Dr. Blue joined YWCA USA in July 2023 from an over 20-year career in K-12 and higher education, leading two large school districts through their justice, equity and belonging strategies as Chief Equity Officer. Most recently, Dr. Blue served in this role at Columbus City Schools in Columbus, Ohio, where she was responsible for guiding the vision and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies, as well as heading the Whole Child Supports Division. Prior to that position, Dr. Blue spent nearly 13 years with Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation in Evansville, Indiana. She began her career in roles serving marginalized college students, heading African American Student Services and Women Student Services across two universities, and later served as Program Officer at KnowledgeWorks Foundation, an education transformation partner that equips school districts with the tools and guidance needed to support learning communities in reaching their shared vision for the future of learning.
